Perfect Book for Busy Families with Gorgeous Step By Step Photos and a Variety of Recipes

This cookbook focuses on dinnertime meals. Well organized and filled with recipes for a wide variety of tastes, this book is good for cooks at any level.

This book is simply beautiful. Filled with colorful and informative photos (there is a picture for every recipe), this book not only is great to look at but also gives good information for those of us who are competent but not particularly instinctive when it comes to cooking. I especially like the step by step photos so that I can get an idea of what the dish should look at while I am cooking it instead of just hoping it turns out like the finished product.

This book is organized by type of meal. With categories such as comfort food, soup for dinner, salad for dinner, breakfast for dinner, the book gives the reader a sense of the different possibilities for meals. There is also several sections on different types of side dishes and even desserts so readers can mix and match main dishes with the sides and desserts they like to make a complete meal.

I was especially pleased with the section on freezer meals. While basic and certainly not an attempt to be a treatise on the subject, this section gives readers the opportunity to prepare staples to keep frozen and then provides several different ways that those frozen staples can be used to make different meals. For example, the book provides a recipe for meatballs that can be frozen and then gives recipes for their use in sweet and sour meatballs, Swedish meatballs, etc. This section and the section on quick preparation meals are especially good for busy people who don't have hours to spend in the kitchen to prepare a dinner.

This book also has a great variety of recipes. There are recipes that are basic (especially good for picky eaters), meat and potatoes type recipes and then also recipes for more adventurous eaters. I appreciated the variety of recipes because nothing annoys me more than cooking books that are only for gourmet eaters.

Although titled Dinnertime, this book has such a great variety of recipes that they can be used all day long.

Some of us just like holding a book of lovely recipes in our hands

It's irritating when someone submits a negative review because a cookbook sets forth recipes that are on the author's blog. For those of us cooks who do NOT follow blogs (and there are many, MANY of us), this is disingenuous. Think about it: We watch these cooks prepare these meals on their programs and those recipes are also available online, as well as on their blogs. The purpose of the cookbook is tactile: Some of us just like holding a book of lovely recipes in our hands, flipping the pages and attaching sticky notes all over it.. Well, I've flipped the pages of this book and I give it five stars. It's probably her best book, and I have all the others. Anyway, I am off to prepare her Beef Stroganoff With Buttered Noodles. Scrumptious! Thanks, Ree, for another winner of a cookbook.

This one may be the best and ive only had time to thumb through it

I have every one of her cookbooks. This one may be the best and ive only had time to thumb through it. But I already plan on buying another for a christmas gift. As some say, you may be able to find most of these recipes on her blog. I havent checked. But do I want to write down Ingredients and directions then take to kitchen to follow or do I want to open a cookbook on the counter and be able to see steps. I will choose having the book in front of me. Otherwise I have to have my computer on counter and risk getting it wet or messy. I can also open up a cookbook and tell by how stained the page is if we liked the recipe. I do have a folder of favorite printed out recipes. But I love reading cookbooks and Ree's make for some of the best reading. So I hope she continues putting out great book for those of us who love an actual cookbook. This one I would give more than five stars. So if you are looking for recipes that have normal ingredients, pictures of the final dish plus picutres of each step. If you want a little bit of story dished up along with the food, then this is the cookbook you want to get.

He changed my life

I first read "Confessions" in 1967 when I was a law student who had figured out he didn't want to be a lawyer. After reading it, I decided that I belonged on Madison Avenue... and that I HAD to work at Ogilvy & Mather. I somehow talked my way into a job there... as a mailboy... and by the time I left a decade and a half later, I was one of the agency's top creative people. I recently retired... after a 38-year career in advertising at five different agencies. "Confessions" remains the best guide ever about how to run an agency, and how to hire one. And David Ogilvy was, without a doubt, the best boss I ever had.

How to Build great campaigns
How to write potent copy
How to illustrate advertisements and posters
How to make good television commercials
How to make good campaigns for food products, Tourist destinations and proprietary medicines
How to rise to the top of the tree--advise to the young

A Classic from One of the Masters

While not as detailed or colorfully illustrated as his later work "Ogilvy on Advertsing," this is still a classic fillld with great information. The book is clearly a precursor to "Ogilvy on Advertising," as many of the same elements can be found in it.
Ogilvy has a wonderfully casual, yet occassionally pompous, style to his writing, but he clearly knows and understands advertising. He manages that rare combination of managing to teach while entertaining. Sometimes his ego and pride come across too strongly, but given the man's accomplishments, I'll cut him slack. And you may wonder why he starts off discussing his days as a chef in Paris, but he does a great job of analogizing that experience to his experiences with running an ad agency.
Highly recommended for anyone involved in advertising, particularly copywriters. Ogilvy was a copywriter and he clearly has a special admiration for those who write copy for a living. He also has great advice to share for anyone in advertising.

Excellent reference on production and inventory control

Yes, it's a bit expensive, but this book is enormous and packed full of information. At 1200 pages, you're probably not going to read this from cover to cover. Instead, you'll want to have this on your shelf whenever you need information on production and inventory management. The book is actually a compilation of chapters by various authors. On the plus side, this results in having each topic covered by an expert on that specific topic. On the minus side, it results in some redundancy from chapter to chapter and inconsistency in the quality of each chapter.
What's great about this book is that if you need information on a topic related to production and inventory management, you are almost certain to find the topic covered in this book. I definitely recommend this as the starting point in your manufacturing operations library.

Sam Parc studied mathematics and engineering in the UK, Germany and Australia and has previously worked at the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Cambridge, Manchester and Newcastle and at Imperial College London. She works for the UK's Institute of Mathematics and its Applications where she provides a passion for popularising mathematics. Her previous work has involved writing a mathematical agony aunt column in a provincial newspaper and maintaining a popular online mathematical magazine. She lives in Southend-on-Sea with her large family and dog, Benji. This is her first book.

Professor Sir Roger Penrose's work, spanning fifty years of science, with over five thousand pages and more than three hundred papers, has been collected together for the first time and arranged chronologically over six volumes, each with an introduction from the author. Publication of The Emperor's New Mind (OUP 1989) had caused considerable debate and Penrose's responses are included in this volume. Arising from this came the idea that large-scale quantum coherence might exist within the conscious brain, and actual conscious experience would be associated with a reduction of the quantum state. Within this collection, Penrose also proposes that a twistor might usefully be regarded as a source (or 'charge') for a massless field of spin 3/2, suggesting that the twistor space for a Ricci-flat space-time might actually be the space of such possible sources. Towards the end of the volume, Penrose begins to develop a quite different approach to incorporating full general relativity into twistor theory. This period also sees the origin of the Di�si-Penrose proposal.

About the Author

Sir Roger Penrose is renowned for his significant contributions to mathematical physics, in particular general relativity and cosmology. Currently Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow of Wadham College, he earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 1957, before being appointed Research Fellow at St. John's College, Cambridge. He then spent time at Princeton and Syracuse University before returning to the UK as a research associate at King's College, London, which was quickly followed by a further stint in the U.S. at the University of Texas at Austin. He then returned to the UK to Birkbeck College, London, where he eventually became Professor of Applied Mathematics. In 1973, he was appointed Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford, earning the status Emeritus Professor in 1998. In the same year, he was also appointed Gresham Professor of Geometry at Gresham College, London.

Penrose has been awarded numerous honors for his scientific contributions: in 1975 with Stephen Hawking he was awarded the Eddington Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society, and in 1988 Penrose and Hawking were awarded the Wolf Prize in Physics for their development of the theory of general relativity. In 1985, Penrose received the Royal Society's Royal Medal and in 1989 he was honored with the Dirac Medal and Prize of the British Institute of Physics. In 1990, he received the Albert Einstein Medal, followed by the Naylor Prize of the London Mathematical Society in 1991, and the DeMorgan Medal for his wide and original contributions to mathematical physics in 2004. A Fellow of the Royal Society of London since 1972, Penrose was elected Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 1998 and in 1994 he was knighted for services to science.
