Gary Robert Muschla (often with his wife Judy Muschla) has authored dozens of successful teacher resource guides for McGraw-Hill, Scholastic Professional and Jossey-Bass (Wiley). His BA and MAT are from Trenton State College, and he taught 4th, 5th and 6th grade for more than 25 years. He specialized in reading and language arts and also taught some math. So-so

I've never found a grammar book that I like to teach with in over 20 plus years of homeschooling. Easy Grammar started with prepositions. This starts with sentences. I'm not sure how a child can tell what the complete subject or complete predicate is with no mention of nouns or verbs. At first I assumed the child was supposed to already have this knowledge, but on further inspection I found that identifying nouns and verbs is in the next section. Still, this book is working for us. I just wouldn't tell anyone, "this is the book to use for grammar" like I would say "Saxon is the best math program".

Excellent grammar workbook

Have only skimmed this workbook as my fifth grade son still has a couple of chapters left in the previous book in this series, "Exploring Grammar." It seems like it will be just as helpful. He's learned more than he would just by doing grammar work in school.

Okay but wouldn't buy again

I would not buy again. My two home school students, ages 9 and 11, easily figured how to cheat by guessing the words at the bottom of each sheet. Might be better for adults only but not for the ages 10-14 as recommended.
